It's that transition from pets to a business. It's tough, but those birds are hers. If they don't replace Fabio, that would be flock #8.

I just wonder why she is selling so many girls. Maybe what she grew out and didn't want to keep?
That would be me.
I paid that for 3 chicks! If they are good stock, that's a good price.

Once you have a sustaining flock, pullets value isn't as high... plus the rooster is half the quality of the chicks...

She's only selling pairs for $60. Said she would make it a trio for $80 to tempt me. I'm sure they aren't her best, but light years ahead of what I have.

Also, sometimes that's they only way to get rid of excess boys... no, they won't be her best, a breeder never sells their best, but definitely a good base stock compared to what you have...

I really like looking at y'all's pretty birds and cool eggs, but I have a difficult time looking at chickens as anything other than an egg source.

Even now me and the family are planning on hatching out some BSL and hopefully some RSL this spring and summer.

I can see obvious flaws in some birds but the thing y'all can see from pics, about breed conformity is pretty amazing and like magic to me. Lol

It's a blessing and a curse. I loved all of my birds until I joined BYC
Seriously, though, I still have 60 or so mutts that will always be the egg source. The AMs got me interested in real breeding, so I want to focus on them. Maybe try the BCM again in the spring with a better start
