is the protein content the only difference in the regular feed, and the feed for molting birds?

Pretty much, yep... extra calcium really isn't needed IF they stop laying during molt... some still lay while molting...

The cat food dish is the ducks sneaky nom-noms station, lol... same breeder that recommended the Flock Raiser told me about this too... especially for the Ohiki I got from her...
High protein content... feathers are made from almost pure protein... helps them from depleting their own protein levels while growing new feathers...

orly 32% protein... majhigh, but I only supplement it during molt...

I asked because some quality dry dog feeds are in the mid-20's, and maybe more readily available...just a thought

Eh... about 1/4 in usual feed... our store only stocks the Flock Raiser in crumble, so I grind the Catfish pellets and mix it into the feed about 1 scoop per 3 of feed in a bucket...

Purina Flock Raiser is 20% protein so dog food isn't much higher... and this stuff is cheaper than good quality dog food... TSC's carry and a lot of other places due to popularity of Koi and pond fish...

Purina Flock Raiser is 20% protein so dog food isn't much higher... and this stuff is cheaper than good quality dog food... TSC's carry and a lot of other places due to popularity of Koi and pond fish...

If I recall correctly, Purina Pro Plan was 26%; never fed it, so no clue as to price

Btw, not saying dog food isn't a good supplement for molting, just that I prefer the higher protein in this as it lasts longer... dog food, cat food, tuna fish, scrambled or hard boiled eggs works too...
