French frogs

The cat food dish is the ducks sneaky nom-noms station, lol... same breeder that recommended the Flock Raiser told me about this too... especially for the Ohiki I got from her...

High protein content... feathers are made from almost pure protein... helps them from depleting their own protein levels while growing new feathers...
:thumbsup
orly 32% protein... majhigh, but I only supplement it during molt...

I asked because some quality dry dog feeds are in the mid-20's, and maybe more readily available...just a thought

Cat food is better! Dog food have low biology level protein( mainly vegetable protein) cat food have mainly animal protein!

Mine are on Scratch & Peck Naturally Free Grower, which is 17% protein.  I've been looking for something to easily up the protein during molt - so thanks Ravyn!

Welcome! :)

What Friday said - read the ingredient label.

X3!!

Advice is great, but always check everything yourself... don't take every bit given as written in stone... (yes, I am counting my own in this, lol) and pick what works for you and your birds... ;)

Also, just a bit on dog food vs cat food... dogs can be on a vegetarian diet and be healthy, but cats cannot... can't remember what it is in animal protein that they need, but since chickens (and ducks) are omnivores this might be something to keep in mind... :)

I have read a handful of old (1920s) chicken keeping books and every one of them swear by animal protein.
