Fresh Asphalt/driveway pavement harmful?

I just had my driveway freshly paved. There are a few loose rocks covered with tar at the edges that didn't get packed down. Any thoughts on how harmful these would be to chickens if they eat them? I'm hoping I don't have to go along all the edges and pick up the strays. :-(

I answered my own question by locating a MSDS for asphalt paving, which is made of Asphalt (the sticky liquid) and rocks. It's non-poisonous, though they say it could cause obstructions if you eat enough of it. So maybe don't let anybody eat it while it's still warm.

I'd definitely keep them away from it until it had fully set and cooled. You'd only need to lock them up or keep them distracted for a few hours to half a day max. After that it shouldn't be a problem.

What a funny coincidence! Our driveway is being paved in a couple of weeks - I was just wondering the same thing yesterday - thanks!
