Fresh Start

Yes completely normal, nothing to worry about. It's tired and worn out. Having been curled up in the egg its just getting used to being able to move about.

Congratulations

Yay!!! My first little one is here too! She's screaming at her sister eggs to hatch! Took her about 20 minutes to start really hopping around. She still needs to rest a lot.

How's it doing? Any more hatch? I only had the one chick hatch so off to TSC I go this afternoon to buy her some friends. I'm hoping to move her to the brooder when I get home.

Yep, my little Barnevelder hatched around 1:00 am, and the two of them are peeping up a storm! My Black Copper Maran is pipped and looks about ready to go. Not sure about my Cream Legbar. I think it's wiggling but with so much activity in there now it's hard to tell!

Your little sweetie will be happy to have a buddy!

So cute! This was my little one this morning. Still hasn't figured out how to use her legs, but she'll get there.

I'm hoping I get home from work and she's fluffy and running around! Lol!

Plenty of rest and she should be :D

OMG! What a cutie pie!
She is SOOO cute! Little silver thing. And so happy you got her a buddy!

My third little one hatched late yesterday. She pipped and was peeping and pecking at the air like crazy for a solid 24 hours, but it seemed like she couldn't rotate herself, so I ended up helping her out. Super glad I did - not at drop of blood or yolk. She does have mild spraddle-leg though, and two of her toes are quite stumpy (seems like the brachydactyly mutation is common in Marans). I made her a little leg brace and we're doing some physical therapy (assisted walking) every couple hours, and she's already hobbling about pretty well!

Her she is with her sisters - from left to right Petunia the Black Copper Maran, Violet the Barnevelder, and Lily the American Bresse:

Here are her little toes, and the brace I made her with some lightweight adhesive tape:

So adorable! Lucky she's got you to take care of her instead of someone who would just toss her!
