Hi everyone! I just joined BYC Forum! I have been doing the chicken thing for almost two years. I started with half of a dozen just for eggs, but this year realized what exactly "chicken math" meant. This spring I got a few and somehow that turned to forty. Mostly the typical backyard breeds, Rhode Island Reds, Australorp, Easter Eggers, Olive Eggers, Isa Browns, Leghorns, Brahma, Golden Laced Wyandotte, Barred Rock, Silver Bielefelder, Crele Bielefelder, Ameracauna, Bresse, Silkie, and a few unknown mixes that were rescued. I am sure I am forgetting someone in there, I usually do. I love the unknown of chicken raising! Every day is a new adventure with chickens. I don't have any other hobbies. I work from home, have five kiddos, two on the spectrum who LOVE these chickens and have given them so much joy. I work as a Family Support Navigator, which helps families find resources and ensure children have proper supports in schools. We have six cats and a little dog. We live in Maine.. that is about it. I have seen lots of posts when searching for information that leads back to BYC so I finally said if I keep coming back to this forum, why not just join it?!?
