I am posting a video of Frieda, she has now passed away. She had these symptoms for approximately 6 weeks. Getting worse as time went by. I tried Tylan 50 and Lyncomycin. ACV and VetRX. Has anyone experienced these symptoms before? Thanks in advance.

Aww, poor Frieda! She seems to be exhibiting the telltale signs of gapeworm—gasping for air, sneezing.
It breaks my heart to watch this video. I hate seeing animals in pain, and I know it’s hard for chicken owners, too. I’m so sorry you had to go through this. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Sending many hugs :)

Thanks for your reply! How do I treat for gapeworm? That way I know what I'm dealing with if it happens again.

And I do too hate this video. But I thought it would be a small price to pay by posting it... if it helps me in the future or someone else.

^ Some helpful articles about gapeworm. I didn’t mention before, but there’s also the possibility of a respiratory infection. I don’t know much about these, but infections are usually pretty straightforward when caught early on. I still think it’s gapeworm, though—treatments can include Aviverm or Flubenol, as mentioned in second article. I’ve heard of people using diatomaceous earth for worms, but it seems pretty controversial and I don’t have experience myself.
Glad I could help! BYC is great because sometimes there are solutions that you just need a different perspective on. Hopefully you’ll be able to prevent this in future. Good luck!

Thanks so much for your knowledge. I took one with similar symptoms to the vet on Wednesday. She too suspected gapeworm and prescribed a version of Flubenol. She said it could also be an upper respiratory infection. And if she does end passing away she will do a necropsy to determine exactly what the problem is. Fingers crossed.
