The sweetest-tempered, friendliest bird I've ever had is my New Hampshire Red hen. Ginny-Ron (we didn't know her gender at first, just her bright red color!) knows her name and comes when she's called. When you DON't call her, she calls to you - and hops up on the closest perch she can find to get to you. She'll "converse" (I swear she thinks I'm Dr. Doolittle) with pretty much anyone and purrs when stroked. She was an "oops" baby - a leftover from a classroom hatch. She and my Black Jersey Giant hen, Siri (short for Sirius Black - notice a tend there?) are collectively called my "Kindergarten Rescues." Both are SUPER friendly, social birds - even now, at five years old.
