I have 1 Pekin Hen, 1 Runner/Magpie cross Hen, 2 Mallard Hens, 1 Muscovy Drake and 6 Muscovy Hens....my Pekin will climb up in my lap when I sit on the ground, she'll follow me and even stop and let me pick her up when I hold my hand out like a stop sign in front of her. My runner/magpie hen will walk up to me, eat out of my hand, follow me but pitch a big fit when I pick her up. My Mallards will run up to me and quack if they want a snack, will follow me but will fly up if I attempt to pick them up. My Muscovy Hens will follow me, lay at my feet when I'm on the porch, sing to me, eat out of my hand and let me pick them up...they even sit and lay on my lap. My one Muscovy gal Bleenie will even roost on my shoulder or head. My Muscovy drake will follow me, but will not let me touch him at all. I hatched the Pekin hen in my house, all of my other ducks came to me as 5 day old ducklings. I spend a lot of time outside with my ducks, I will sit in the pen with them for hours when they're in the pen, and they'll spend lots of time on the porch with me. My Muscovy's are my youngest ducks and they range in age from 15 months to 2 months. My Pekin is my oldest and she's 3 yrs old.

I recently gave away 24 Muscovy ducklings and any day now will have a bunch more Muscovy eggs and Musvocy/Mallard mix hatch.

Not having much luck with ducks that want me to love them! I have hatched two batches of Calls - and both batches of ducks wanted NOTHING to do with me - didn't like bread or treats I threw for them - always walking away:( - I hatched and handled them from day one - but they were never coming any where near me once I put them in their pond & yard - so after 8 months - I gave them to a private wildlife park. Any ideas on a breed of duck that likes hanging with people?
I have a great enclosure with a duck-dreamhouse and a 30x15 pond i built - with no ducks in it

Thank you for your time.....
Why would you feed your ducks bread? It has no nutritional value. Try thawed peas (from frozen).

Wait a minute....hold up. I'm SO sorry. I just read further into your comment. I had to make some edits to my comment. So, let me get this straight:

1) You bought ducks for the sole purpose of holding and being cuddly with them...
2) Fed them bread...
3) Then, after only 8 months, did you dump off your domestic-bred, hatched, and raised ducks to a "wildlife park," - which I'm assuming was the quickest way to get rid of them, since they are not "wild" in any way, shape, or form?

You REALLY should stick with cats. They are quite cuddly.
BUT! BEFORE YOU GO SHAKING A CAN OF FRISKIE'S IN YOUR NEAREST ALLEY, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW:

1) FIRST: Read up on cats....spend like 6 months reading about them,
2) Go visit some people who own cats, talk to them, find out what cats eat, and what raising cats is like; DO NOT speak with people like Paris Hilton, Jake the Snake, Joe Exotic, Michael Vick, LeShon Johnson, etc.
3) Ask LOTS of questions,

THEN, after you complete those steps, you might be ready to adopt an adult rescue cat.
