Hey everyone! Do you know what some friendly breeds of geese are? I'm thinking about getting some soon! Also, what food can geese eat? Same as ducks? Can they live with ducks? Will a female goose hatch eggs every year? Can baby goslings live with ducklings? Thanks!

I had mixes, but the most common pet goose is the Sebastopol. I had a Tuffed Roman Emden mix, and she was great. Ganders will be mean during mating season.

My geese ate the Game Bird Crumbles. They don't like pellets. I'd give them the same feed as ducks. I did.

Depends on space and how the geese behave. If you have plenty of space, I don't see why not. If your gander is bad, then most likely not. It really depends on the situation.

If you get the right breed, they'll go broody every year. But as far as hatching.... There's certain feathers you'll need to trim, but I'm not sure which ones. It's for fertilization.

I've raised them together before, and they did really well.

My Sebastopol Emden mixes and my Tuffed Roman Emden mix would go broody every year. Just there wasn't good fertilization due to me not trimming feathers, so they never hatched anything. One year I did give them some goslings, and the whole flock raised them together.

Looks like you got most of your questions already answered, but I’ll put some input in on my favourite breed… I have to say I love Sebbies, but you could get friendly geese of another breed that will probably be a lot cheaper. Breeds like Roman, Toulouse, and Buff all seem to be gentle breeds for less.

I hope you get some soon! :D
