Hello, I need some reassurance here…our weather this week is only going to get worst with the temps in the evenings going down to-7 by Thursday night before rebounding.. my girls have a wooden coop that I have double insulated on the inside with plastic and insulated bubble wrap, the run outside their coop is completely wind proof and dry with a deep bedding of pine shavings, their coop floor has a deep bedding of shavings too! I use a droppings board and clean up poop every morning … and they roost on a 2x4 with the wide side up, are they going to be okay? Also I keep the inside of their coop clean and no water or feed inside..,thanks for your help!

I also tend to freak out, but they will be OK. In general it’s the extremely hot weather that’s hard on chickens.
Down to single digits here in Atlanta tomorrow, I know it’s nothing but I have half naked GRITS (Girls Raised in The South).

You have molting going on? 😩I have one that is finishing up!

Of course. Why do chickens do that? “I know, how about we lose the down coat for winter? Y’all in?”
