How was the trip?
Well, it was pretty good - most of it. Took 6 chickens back to my brother Ron and my sister Bev's farm. They were pretty good on the trip, and they appreciated it when we stopped halfway and brought them a Southwestern Chicken Salad from McDonald's. The girl behind the counter and the other staff and customers got a good laugh out of it when they found out what I wanted the salad for. She offered to leave off the chicken but I told her to leave that and take off the lime so the chickens wouldn't be looking for margaritas. Got the chickens safely delivered late Tuesday afternoon, just about dark. Ron and Bev were floored by the size of the Light and Buff Brahmas, and how gorgeous they are.

Well, Ron ended up in the emergency room early on Thanksgiving morning and was then admitted to the hospital due to seizures. He got home today. Seizures have stopped but he's still a little confused sometimes. Little Ashley was discharged from the hospital the day before Thanksgiving but she and her family were unable to attend the festivities because it would have been her first day since she contracted Chicken Pox and it was too dangerous for her to be around a lot of people until her counts went back up. They did make it over to my sister's (Ash's gramma) house for the tree decorating though. Our windshield cracked most of the way across as we crossed the mountains on our way to Sioux Falls, but it held for the duration and the trip back. And nephew Grant on Saturday night during the decorating party and ended up in the emergency room because he choked on a piece of ham.

Trip home was uneventful but stressful. Roads were icy and slick in lots of places. Ken opted to go over the mountains from Sheridan to Lovell using Hwy 14A, Man, it was snowy and nasty up there, and those steep grades and curves gave us a little trouble. But we made it. The drive is usually about 12 hours but we made it in 14+ so we thought we did pretty well. Did some shopping while we were there so the back end of the minivan was just as full going home as it was going out there. But this time instead of chickens we had stuff for Kendra, Katie and Evan and a brand new huge Nordic Track Treadmill for Ken.

Um, how was yours?

The roads going across the Big Horns:

This is when he decided we could make it over.

Don't think he saw this sign as we approached the mountains. I did.

Um, yeah...this is how it was all the way across - and most of the way down. But we're here, so all's well.

@Blooie you sure had an eventful trip. Glad everyone is ok and you got home safely.
