Fringe curtain over nest box opening?

I've also heard & read that they like privacy while laying and as one individual did, I planned on a burlap curtain of sorts covering most of the opening or a smaller opening than the actual nest box size, again for privacy.

your not silly at all! it's good that you are caring & interested in having the best environment you can for your chickens. makes me proud! keep up the good caring!

It may be silly but I have curtains in the coop. The swag part of kitchen curtains with chickens on it hangs up over their entrance into the coop. It serves no useful purpose except it pleases me. I also have a Moo Moo's nic nac shelf. It does serve a purpose, it's covering some wasted space we created. We put a little ledge in front of the nest house and they wanted to roost there at night. Couldn't have them sitting in poop so I put the wooden shelf there, they can't roost there and they went straight into house that night. Problem solved, and its cute. I keep a bottle of meal worms on the shelf. When I go in one of the girls will go up the ladder, reach around and peck at the bottle, they know its there! They can't reach the curtain and they can't push the shelf, it's attached. Silly, perhaps, do they care one way or another, no. On the outside I've begun collecting tin signs to put on the coop. Again, serves no useful purpose to the birds. I like it, looks co from the road. And they are pets. They are on the credit plan right now, waiting for eggs.
