Poor baby Frizzle (approx 9 weeks old), that I have only had a week, got to close to the bars of her run and my miniature Dachshund grabbed her by the throat taking a big chunk of feathers and some skin. It is very open but we have put some Wound powder in to it and put her back into the coup.

She is very sedate (unlike her) but she has eaten and had something to drink.

She shares with 2 standard size hens and they are being very protective of her.

Is there anything I can do to help with her healing? I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the shock doesn't kill her over night. She's has a really beautiful character and top in the pecking order with the other ladies.

Many Thanks xxxxxxx

Watch your other hens. Chickens tend to pick on the unhealthy. I know its hard to separate them because then you have reintroduce them but I'd think about that unless she is not acting sick.

Well, it's been a few days now and my baby is thriving! She's being bossy, eating well and drinking well. I can't believe how robust chickens are. I truly expected her to die of shock. Amazing. :D
