Frizzle Modifier Gene and phenotypes

It is also possible that your "smooth" hen is actually Ff with Mf as well, and may appear normal but carry the frizzle gene. This may be what is leading to the poor feather quality in some of your chicks - they may actually be FF without the modifier.

Hi, reviving an old thread with a picture of a semi-frizzled chicken I hatched (and sold to a friend). This is a blue tolbunt project pullet.

Normally, the frizzles that I hatch are very frizzled. This one just looks like the feathers stick out a little bit -- neither smooth nor fully frizzled.
