I'm a little worried that this chick might be a frazzle instead of a frizzle, Does it look like a girl or boy? I've never had a Cochin this young So I'm not sure. What do you all think?

Oh no.. The same day I bought him I bought another frizzle roo that is 8 weeks old and black. My friend gave me one of her chicks because we think it might be a roo and she had 5 already. And another one of my "hens" turned into a roo. Oh yeah and I have a barred rock bantam I'm getting nervous about. Went from no roosters to 4 or 5 rooster out of 11 chicks. In less than a week. I have a feeling I'm going to be in big trouble in a couple of months!

Sorry I did bot email you as I have been in the hospital for pneumonia for a week

now to the chickens
It looks like a rooster to me?
the frizzle's do not have more feathering at 4 weeks than this one does
it goes according to the strain of cochins he came from
so give it more time to tell
actually a extreme frizzle would have a tighter twist to the feasthering than thisd one does
so there is hope there

as for it being a extreme frizzle that will tell when he gets his third molt of permanent feathers at about 6 months old

if then the frizzle feathering is still tight and whispy then the feathers break off and only spines are left in the feather quill
then maybe not as many feathers to the 2nd yr molt

that is how you tell if it is extreme frizzling
I never used the term frazzle as it is just one some one made up as a new phrase
in the pure bred chicken world it would be called extreme frizzling

well I don't know anything about this chicks parentage. I lady I knew got this egg as an extra in a dozen she bought to hatch so I guess time will tell. I'm really hoping it turns out to be a girl

but it is looking really doubtful. Maybe I'll just have to by more girls so I can keep all these roosters.
