We have 2 barnyard mix breeds that we hatched from our own eggs and a silver laced frizzle Poland hatched a few days later (from purchased eggs). All are 5 weeks, or nearly 5 weeks.

Nora / Norman

His dad is a black mix breed, and his mum is a gold birchen booted bantam sablepoot:

Fairly sure he’s a Norman with the orange comb and wattles.

Yogi (unisex name)

Again it’s dad is a black mix breed, and mum is a silver welbar bantam.

I’m also thinking this one is a he too... 😒 altho comb and wattles aren’t as prominent or red.

Zasu (unisex name)

This is the silver laced polish frizzle... and really hoping she’s a she!

She has daintier legs and feet, and sticks closer to her broody mum. There’s not really any sign of comb or wattles yet, so hoping that’s a good sign for a pullet! I know “poof” shape can be an indicator, but it’s still pin feathers yet, plus the frizzle makes it hard to tell. She is a few days younger, so only 4 and half weeks old.

Don't give up hope for Yogi. My female I mentioned earlier was called male by everyone who tried to help because she had a visable comb. Only difference is that her comb wasn't pinkish, it's canary yellow somehow.

That is very true @featherhead007 and they are all very much loved! The only problem is we already have a roo with just 3 hens at the moment - and he’s a bit too amorous in the evenings - leaving the girls bare backed - so I was hoping for some more ladies to even the score!

Have you tried saddling your girls? One of my old hens did much better once she had a saddle to protect her back
