Hello!

I have some sizzle hens & a frizzle Cochin rooster. I’ve read it’s not okay to breed frizzle to frizzle, so far with my research I have not seen anything about breeding a sizzle to a frizzle.

Can anybody provide any guidance to with this?

As far as I know (and I have never bred frizzles so hopefully someone who knows more will be along shortly), The problem is two copies of the frizzle gene leads of over frizzled or frazzle chickens which have broken feathers and bald spots. As both your sizzle (frizzle and silky feather genes) hens and frizzle (frizzle but no silky feather genes) couchin rooster will have a frizzle gene it is not reccomended to breed them together. Sometimes the term sizzle is used for a variety of appearances so if any of your sizzle hens do not show any frizzling of the feathers it would be fine to use them. hope this helps and someone can hopefully confirm if i'm right!

Exactly what others have confirmed, I will not allow any breeding between two “frizzled” or “sizzles” showing the frizzled gene to prevent any issues!! Thank you for your response
