I ordered 4 assorted cochin chicks from Ideal, along with 20 other chicks of different breeds. 1 of the four is smooth-feather silver laced, the other 3 are all frizzled! They are starting to look pretty funky now that their feathers are coming in. Is there anything special that has to be done for a frizzle? I got these along with Silkies and OEGB to be my natural incubators. Do the frizzles go broody as often as the smooth feathered variety? Can they incubate egg as effectively as the smooth feathered ones, even with their frizzles?

I had 4 frizzles that were broody for 5 weeks. They did just fine and it was funny because when I would look in at them all you could see was a ball of frizzle feathers and no head! lol

Happyhens? Do you know how illegal it is to own such cuteness without sharing pics?

Hmm...didn't your mama teach you to share?

LOL I will try to get some pics this afternoon! I think that the black frizzle is a roo, based on the fact that his comb is already getting really red. The silver laced Cochin has always acted very rooster-ish to me, a lot more aggressive than the other chicks. The other 2 I hope are hens.
Oh, sorry for the double post on this forum. I posted "frizzled cochins" twice by accident.

That is the second time that has happened.
