Hello everyone, I was wondering what your guys thought were on frizzle bantams, I absolutely adore their look but have never had one myself.
Any thoughts on this breed? Are they friendly usually? High, low maintenance?
Just curious because I know chick season is coming to an end and I'm think of getting one of these feizzle babies for my own flock, thank you!

Frizzle is a gene not a breed.
I love my frizzled girls! Have had no problems with them in the winter. I would recomend frizzles. If your going to breed them ALWAYS have eaither frizzled hens or a frizzled rooster. Never both. breeding frizzles to each other cause a lethal gene called frazzles. A frazzles is a double gened frizzle causing chicks to die in the egg, hatch weak and die young, or live and be a unhealthy bird its whole life.

Okay, thank you for your recommendation!!
I've always admired this breed and was wondering what their temperment was like, I will definitely consider the breed.
And thank you for the hatching point for the frizzles, I had no idea.

Okay. Good to know!
I was just looking into this gene because their on my availability list for the hatchery I'm buying them from, so I wanted to make sure they would be a good fit for my starting flock.

I love frizzles! Just an fyi though, bantam frizzle cochins in my experience have a very particular fearful personality. Not cochins in general or even bantam cochins, just the frizzle bantams. Nice birds, just a little extra spazzy.

Frizzle is a feather gene, not a breed. At least not in the states. Popular breeds that come in frizzled are Cochins, Seramas, Easter Eggers, and Polish. Every bird is an individual so personality and other traits will vary, but most of the time they end up fitting the stereotype of their respected breed. There is a chance they will be more prone to bullying because of their unique appearance, but this isn't the case with every flock. They may also not be the most weatherproof birds.
