Our boy Blueberry is a mess!
I was making a small chicken tractor for the babies to enjoy the outdoors and ran out of supplies. Ran to the store, came back and he is a bloody mess. He is OEGB and top roo. We also have two d'Uccle roos, a bantam Cochin roo and a bantam Cochin cockrel.
I thought he must have saved his flock from the neighborhood cat and checked the other Roos to see if they helped. The only other injuries are on the Cochin cockrel. He has some scabbing and one eye is closed.
So now I'm thinking it wasn't a preditor, but maybe a fight, since poor Buddy runs away every time little Blueberry gets near. Buddy doesn't really have Spurs yet and seems to avoid fights.
Could a young (7 month) cockrel really do this much damage to our tough guy, or do you think it was a predator fight? He's missing half of one waddle and the other one is looking rough.
