My Office sat "empty" for over 2 years after I stopped doing my counseling services... becoming nothing more than a fancy "catch all" for toys, extra "stuff" from the attic etc...
We had put a lot of work into it; hand-plastered wall's & ceiling, windows, carpet, Tiled entry etc....
So when it cam time to put our chicks outdoors, and we didn't have the $$ for the coop we'd planned due to our Van breaking down-- it only made sense to use what space we had.
We went to the local Farm discount store and bought heavy-duty tarps (12x12) for $6 each... we used a staple-gun to attach double tarps to the floors and singles to the walls. Then we just bought our feeders, waterers, hay and woodchips plus some DE....
And Viola-- Instant coop!
A few weeks later, we used $120 for lumber and chickenwire to build a 10 x 20 run off the door of the coop-- using the 8 foot privacy fence that is attached to the building as one side of the run, and boat tarps over green-treated 2x4's for the roof...
It worked GREAT--- until we got that nasty storm in December that dumped 27 inches of snow on us in 3 days!!!! With that, and the terrible winds-- the boards all snapped like match-sticks... so am re-configuring the run!
