from chicks inside to chickens outside

Jaxx, chicks only need real serious warmth (95 degrees, draft free) for about 1-2 weeks depending on climate.  After that they need someplace to warm up but should spend the majority of the time at room temperature or less.  It's good for their development of feathers and prevents dehydration issues.

Jjss Ty for the help right now temp. Is still dropping down in the mid 20s my Vicks are about 3 was old right now I have them inside but want to get them acclimated asap

Is there somewhere you could put them outside?

A 250W heatlamp at low, angled height will provide a warm spot for them to go when needed. That way they'll spend most of their time where it is cool and they'll be able to warm-up and dry off when needed.

I put my 2 week old chicks outside in the tractor a week ago. So they are 3 weeks now. I put a well secured heat lamp in the covered portion so they had a place to warm up and sleep. I keep a tarp handy to cover the pen if its really windy and at night since we are still dropping below freezing. they are thriving out there. They go to the light when they are cold but spend much of their time in the sunshine and wandering around eating bugs and grass. The pen is currently 8' x 8' so they have lots of room. The warmest we have gotten was 70 and now back into the high 40s for our daytime temps.

I think we over think it too much. They are hardier than they get credit for :) I did keep their room when in the house on the cooler side by cracking the window, so they were used to having cooler areas in the brooder but had the heat lamp to warm up.

Yes I'm building a 12x12 coop as we speak and a nice big run off the coop I have predators around so I have to secure an area for them!

Yes Ty that is very helpful to me my coop should be up in a couple of days and out side they go !
