You're not kidding about the work. I took apart about a dozen pallets -

It took about 6 weeks start to finish. Putting the new chicks in there will be icing on the cake

I agree. Taking the pallets apart is the hardest thing to do. But in the end, it all works out.

Paint brush - pallet wood tends to be rough and soaks up the paint.

Thanks for all the nice comments everyone! I've decided to expand the coop this spring, been turning ideas around in my head as how to proceed. I know a while back I said I was through with pallet coops, but I just can't pass up the price

And I think it will be much much easier not being preggy, lol!

Mine came from a car dealership - their sign was delivered in it. I would haunt some new construction sites; keep your eyes peeled or ask the foreman if they have any to discard. Good luck, it made the process easier, for sure.

I have to admit my silliness here because I got a good laugh at myself. I kept wondering what in the world breed the dark chicken on the bottom roost was! I was pretty sure polish but I had NEVER seen a breed with 4 legs! I kept staring and staring at it trying to figure it out! Then I saw that the light colored chicken next to it also had 4 legs but two were a different color... then it hit me! SHADOWS! I am so silly! But boy the legs did all match in color for the one so I was pretty convinced you had a pretty cool breed bird there!
