from to layer?

hi all!
just a quick question we have four chickens and was just wondering when do I switch them to layer feed? they are 16 weeks now do I wait until they are laying eggs?

You're getting close. But, some breeds don't lay until 24-28 weeks, so there would be no rush to feeding Layer.

Just so it gets said, there's no magic in Layer at all. It is just Grower or Raiser type feed with an added dose of calcium. That's all it is. Lots of folks never feed Layer, as they continue on with Raiser or Grower and offer calcium via some shells on the side.
Layer is popular as it is convenient, that's all.
