All spot on treatments for fleas and tic are being watched by EPA. THere are reports of allergy, skin irritation, convolutions and even death attributed to spot-on treatments (Front line, advantage, bIo-spot & all others). Be sure meticulously follow directions: current findings indicate many reported cases were caused by mis-use i.e dog type used on cat etc, or improper dosages. Currently, there are no reports available, but they are expected in the beginning of (2010).

"imho" BASED ON THE PRELIMINARY FINDINGS I WOULD NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THESE PRODUCTS ON CHICKENS!

Great stuff. I use the 40% Deet for sportsman. Just spray it on the vent area and under the wings. Once every 3 or 4 months will really help keep the bugs off.

Don't get it in the chickens eyes: it will put them out.... the eye that is. saladin

For poultry I like the permethrin. Its a liquid you mix up in one of those weed killer type sprayers, and spray each bird under their wings and by their vent. Works great. The dosage can also be upped and used as a premise spray to spray the coops, roosts, and runs down.

I like Pyrethrum too as sundown said. I just wish it lasted longer.

Actually, for external parasites I would recommend you alternating different spays. saladin
