My chick Scout was hatched under similar circumstances....an October hatch, unseasonably warm weather in the upper sixties, low seventies, and with two days we were at sub zero temps. Scout got his feet wet at the waterer, and they froze. Poor little mite! His story is too long to retype and post here, and I see you’ve been given a link to the article about it. But he did lose use of his toes. But nothing stopped him - he flew up and down to and from the roost, bred the ladies, scratched in the dirt, and could outrun me. I don’t know if anything I did for him made the difference or if it was just his grit and determination but he thrived. He did love his “hot tub”
