Hi! In many places the weather is getting cold; and that means keeping the coop warm. Well, I am worried that my little bantam rooster, Sweetie, might get frostbite. His feathers are quite thin; there's definitely no fluff on that guy, haha. But lately I've been noticing the ends of his comb turning dark purple, and today I saw a few small purple spots. Could these be the first signs of frostbite? They usually go away when I warm him up though. Last night it snowed and when he went outside he didn't move an inch. In fact, the only way he made it back to the coop was by flying! Should I be worried about him? No, this isn't an emergency, but I couldn't find anywhere else to post this thread that made sense. Any ideas would be nice. ;)

my son, who's kind of the one that reads up on everything about chickens, said to put a good layer of VASELINE on the combs to prevent frostbite. Hope this helps!
