A week ago, I posted about a pullet who had frostbite on her feet. They have changed quite a lot through the past 9 days and I’m seeing clear signs that some toes are going to fall off. I’m wondering, though, if we should expect any others to fall off as well or if it’s looking like some will heal. Thanks everyone!

For reference:

Foot #1 is the foot with the black toe and crooked other toes
Foot #2 is the somewhat “normal” looking foot.

It is still a little early to tell exactly how much damage there is, but there is a color difference seen in the pictures. I think there could be a loss of most of her toes, and possibly one or more feet. Don’t take my opinion as official, though. I would soak the feet in warm Epsom salts water daily if possible, and keep her inside where it is warmer. This may take a few more weeks. In the pic below, you can see healthy and dead tissue. I cannot find the after picture from the thread, but will look for it. I believe the chicken lost one foot and part of the other.

Anything black will fall off. Keep an eye on the angry red areas, they will be prime for infection - please do not pop blisters :)
It is possible she may lose her foot, but I hope not.
You may need to make some arrangement for her with regard to sleeping. It looks like she is not going to be able to perch very well once the toes are gone...

Thank you! This is really helpful. Yes, she has been inside our house since it happened!
