We had a freeze a couple of days ago, we had a chicken get one legged damaged from the cold. After two days of watching her it is looking like she is getting a start of an infection in that leg... now we are talking about slaughtering her for meat before she starts getting sick. Is this okay, has anyone done this? The leg is showing signs of local infection but she still is acting healthy. We could wait to she what direction she goes but if we can have her for meat instead of just putting her in the ground we will

Are you sure it’s because if the cold and not something else? And pics would be very helpful :)

And welcome to BYC! :welcome

I'll need pictures and preferably a timeline.

Just know if you do process her, it may be safest to just sacrifice that leg entirely to avoid any nasties so long as the rest of the meat looks okay.
It was Saturday night Sunday morning when the freeze happened, the kids went and sprayed Blu on her because they misunderstood the injury so that's the dark blue on her leg, since day before yesterday (Monday) her leg and foot is starting to show swelling and is very feverish.
