Frozen and cracked chicken eggs

my coop does not have a run.

I'd just leave the status quo as it is and go egg hunting then.

Maybe you could keep them inside in the mornings, and release them in the afternoon and evening, after they've laid their eggs? (I would only do this if you have at least the recommended minimum of 4 sq. feet per hen in your coop.)

You'd have to keep and eye on them, to be sure they aren't suffering from confinement. It's freezing here, and the girls are pretty much confined to the coop of their own free will, but my smaller girls still run outside to get away from the older hens.

My coop can hold up to 10 chicken and there are 4.

In order for your hens to be happy and healthy, I would highly recommend having a run. It gives them exercise. Plus, if they don't have enough room, they could get sick and stressed and die. I would highly, highly recommend adding a run to your coop.

20 chickens or 4 - your chickens need enough space...

Anyway, I don't usually eat cracked eggs unless I know how old they are. I would just crush them and give them to your chickens.

I feel so weirdly guilty giving my chickens any eggs even though it is good for them.

How many sq. ft. per bird in your coop?

My coop can hold up to 10 chicken and there are 4.

If you are going by manufacturer's statement, there is a huge difference between "it will hold up to 10 chickens", and "it will appropriately house 10 chickens, allowing a minimum of 4 s.f. in coop per bird." The reason I ask, is if your coop has less than that minimum spacing of 4 s.f./bird, it would not be safe to lock them in the coop for retraining to the nest.
