Hello,

I am not sure if this is the proper place for this question. I have a whole frozen chicken in my freezer, it's at least 1 year and 6 months old. Do I us it or toss it??

Thank you
Stacey

Chicken for dinner! I've had meats last over two years--you know, the bottom corner of the chest freezer you don't go to much cause you're afraid you're gonna fall in and one of the evil cats will shut the lid on you and then they'll all sit on the lid and trap you---maybe that's just me

Anyway I've eaten meat that's older than that and it's fine. Just check for freezer burn.

LOL What a crack up!!!!!!!!! Somebody here thinks like me!! Woo hoo

Oh and I agree, if it's not freezer burned eat it.

I would go with feed it to some other animal....it make smore sense...

I don't like the dry tough, funky texture of the freezer burn stuff...I also get seriously out of sorts when food doesn't get to thaw all the way before cooking.....just asking for issues...

Another vote for "eat it if there's no freezer burn". The turkey we had for Thanksgiving dinner was in my chest freezer for a litter over 2 years, it was really good.

I have one of those vacu-wrap thingys that evacuates all air from the package and then seals it. Food lasts forever-no freezer burn. If it's freezer burnt, feed it to the dog (tastes funky) if not eat it in good health.
