Frozen Duck.

Thanks Deejay, I felt a little guilty taking him back out into the cold and the coop - but I couldn't keep him inside, and didn't want him to get toooo used to the warm house.
He was waiting by the water dish a little while ago, he just sits and waits for me to come knock out the ice... poor guy. (I have a head cold) I'll be going out there in a bit to take care of them all. Going to put more bedding/hay/shavings in the coop.

the last few nights my ducks have not wanted to go into their house.
And tonight I found one of them in the chicken coop. The other one was very upset but couldn't figure out the ramp so I put her in the coop with the other one. I'm thinking they weren't warm enough by themselves so we will see how this works.

I was all set up to have separate coops for the ducks and chickens, but the ducks really really wanted to be with the chickens so I just let them share both shed/coops. The ducks were introduced to the chickens at 3 weeks of age, and well they love each other. Sometimes the ducks get under the roosts at night and they have poop on them in the morning, they all sleep on the floor of the coop - mostly they don't get poop, my hubby closes the coop and makes sure they're not settled under the roost when he closes up.

Well I just went and let them all out to free range and this is the first morning I haven't been " yelled " at by the ducks to "let their chickens free".
They weren't even anxious to get out the door , they seem much happier and now I have an empty doghouse. Oh well.

I filled up our ducks and geese's water tub last night...it is liek 3 degrees outside. They happily hopped in and started dunking themselves and quacking loudly. I think If I would put a ramp up to the stock tank that has the heater in it, they would be in heaven!!!! That is not going to happen by the way. I don't want them accidentally getting stuck in there and not being able to get out.
