Frozen Eggs

Quote:
Isn't Sugar the dog that eats eggs found around the yard? Dogs eat poo and dead animals sometimes. I doubt it was the egg that did it. Probably just a coincidence. Maybe she just ate too many eggs that day.

Must be somebody else's dog. My Sugar's a house dog and doesn't go anywhere off-leash. She sure as heck doesn't get into the chicken house.

Sorry, it was a different dog named Sugar.

I get frozen eggs on a regular basis. I wipe them off and peel them like a hard boiled egg (after they thaw a little) and into a little custard bowl with Saran wrap over the top and into the 'frig. Of course we eat these first. We have eaten dozens this way and so has my neighbor. No one has gotten sick.

The cool thing is some of my hens are semi-broody...they set on the eggs during the day, take breaks to feed, and then roost at night. This keeps a lot of them from freezing. We also try to pick the eggs a few times a day to catch them before they freeze.
