FRUIT !?!?!?

Somebody said feeding hens fruit will stop egg production .....your opinion ?????
Is this ALL fruit , or certain kinds ??

if i remember you cant give them citrus....... i dont know about nything else. i'm sure someone else can answer this better.

I've read "no citrus." Of course, they LOVE watermelon and grapes. I will be trying out apples tonight - have some that are less than crisp...

Any fruit as a treat is okay as long as it is not citrus!

I've yet to see anyone give an actual reason for citrus or fruit being bad. The only thing I can find is that citrus seed meal is sometimes used as a vegetable protein in ruminant feeds but contains a substance that is toxic to poultry. That's kinda true for most fruit seeds though (apples and cyanide) but the levels are so low the seeds usually have to be concentrated to cause any harm.

Now grapes have been proven toxic to some animals. Has it been shown they don't effect chickens?
