Frustrated with Neighbors

I thought things had died down and was getting back to normal as the neighbors started talking to me again and we were back to being civil and shooting the breeze over the fence. A couple of times I went up there to discuss things with her, like the dog being on my property and thinking he may of killed one of my chickens, which I now think might of been a hawk, but still not sure. Now, kids are riding thru my yard again. I WAS mad as heck and went up there to bleep out the Mom and was gonna tell her if the kids dont stop trespassing I was pressing charges, but nobody was home. I was steamed!!
But then I calmed down, thought, let me get the information first as far as what is or isnt my property, talk to the commissioner and a lawyer to get the facts straight, get the signs, THEN.......I knew what my legal rights were and if I have to, take further action. If thats the only way Im going to get the neighbors to respect my property, then I will. I will only take so much. Now Im no longer afraid, Im getting ticked.

Don't feel bad I am having the same problems here with kids and four wheelers on my property. It scares my horses, chases off game, and tears up my property. I like my natural glades and old growth forests untouched for a reason people! a healthy ecosystems i necessary and I don't want your tracks all over my wild Oxalis, Queen Annes Lace, and mushrooms! I eat that stuff and no, tire tred is not a seasoning. *grumbles* sorry didn't mean to hijack your thread Rammy

The reason I said I wont post about this again is I have posted about the same topic several times and I feel I just keep complaining about the same thing over and over. I think Ive beat it to death.

As far as the outcome, all I can do is talk to the neighbor AGAIN, but I doubt it will do any good. I talked to the county commissioner and an attorny and they both told me that it is NOT my property, its the counties. ANYONE had the right to ride, walk, whatever on it. I cant call the sheriff and have them arrested for trespassing as its not my land. I cant put anything up to block it off because if THEY complain, the county will come and take it down and bill me for it.
If anyone runs into it or gets injured, according to the attorny, not only can they sue the county, they can sue me. So its a lose lose situation for me.
It just sucks that I have no rights whatsoever even though I maintain that area.

And Kristy, you didnt hijack the thread. It sucks, doesnt it? People just dont seem to have respect for each others property anymore. They can come and take what they want and laugh at you while they do it.

I guess I'll just get a four wheeler myself and ride up and down thier right of way<eg>.

P.S. As I stated before, I said I wouldnt post about it again because I dont want to keep whining about the same thing over and over. I thought about that statement after I posted and dont want anyone to think I said that because of some of the replies. All of them have been very helpful and I respect everyones opinion. Thank you everyone who has tried to help me with suggestions and your support.

Oh, no, it doesnt need to be closed. Anyone who wants to post something is free to do so. I enjoy reading the different replies. I'll just let it die a natural death<g>.

A horse would be more fun AND would poop everywhere. If only you could rent an elephant... perhaps a cow would do in a pinch. I have stepped in my fair share of fresh cow patties and it ain't pretty. I'm sure running over it with an ATV would make a gosh awful mess.

Surely the eleventy billion BYCers can help you come up with a suitably diabolical plan.

If i were you I would dig a moat along your property line and stuff it full of hungry alligators. Stinking rotten neighbors are a delicacy to alligators

Someone is not telling you the truth. If the County owns it and someone gets hurt on it they CANNOT sue you. It is not your property. I would find out what your property plot map says, find out if you are paying taxes on that piece of property, and if it has't been done already I would put a T-post and wire fence right along side the easement protecting your property.
