Frustrated with SELLERS regarding Marek's Disease Vaccine!

Oh, OK. I thought "NOW what have they come up with?"

On the NPIP yes - many of the people who are certified to NPIP test are certified only for pullorum/typhoid. Other agents (who might be part of the NPIP program as well) can be trained to test for other diseases.

However, as far as I know, the way they diagnose internal non-Marek's is via necropsy. It might be different for the very similar Leukosis. There are DNA tests - I'm not sure how often they're used in field. Usually it's testing for MG, MS, ILT, P/T, etc that they do. For that, I'd ask either the NPIP people if they know who can do those tests - or your local state ag college, etc.

Yeah - P/T testing is really great. I haven't done it for a while as my stock was either tested here or tested before purchase. But now, I will have babies that I'll need tested. Time to get back to calling the state boys again.

yep the only way to test for mereks is once the bird is dead or is culled.

I vacinnate for mareks all that I hatch now but most dont do it. If they are breeding from their own stock chances are you might not have to since the resistent and stronger birds will have breed through (if it has been a few generations) making the chicks you get resilient to it as well. This is really the best way since Mareks is everywhere.

But with new breeds and people working more on type than heartiness I choose to vaccinate myself, but then again I have dealt with Mareks and lost a few birds.
