Full Body Scanners

The way I see it is this: If you want to fly on a commercial flight, you have to pass through a scanner or be 'groped'. Your choices are pass through, get groped or don't fly. If I have to choose, I'll take the scanner.

I do not find that going though the TSA check points makes me feel any more secure. To a large part it makes me feel quite a bit less secure as the folks who are "ensuring our security" are, um, incompetent. This is just one case in point: http://www.snopes.com/military/medal.asp
It's
an old piece but relevant, I think. So, if these scanners become mainstream I believe that I will cease flying altogether. It will be train or car within CONUS.

As soon as the Gov't created it ( TSA ) and the Dept of Homeland security most of us in the know knew it was a huge waste of time & $$$. Full of fat cat Gov't types and lowly saleried workers it was doomed.

Perfectly fine with me, either the scanner or be groped. You don't want either you have a no right to fly on my flight!!

I dislike the idea of being scanned or patted down unless they have reason to suspect you. For some reason my DH likes to think of ways to get around security and even though this takes it up a notch if the person is creative they can STILL bring things onto a plane that would hurt/pull down a plane.

I will still choose not to fly. I think that MOST people are trying to be good and listen to what we can and can not bring on to a plane. I think most people are also being too ok with every small right they take away to fly. What is next- strip search? I worry about what is next and since we already know that bad people can still hide bad things inside their body I am guessing some sort of in body search is next. At which point are we the general public going to say STOP. I get security and trying to help keep us safe- but the bad people out there know how to get around anything we have put up so far. Give me my water, my bottle for a starving child, give me back my fingernail clippers and my right to keep my private parts - um PRIVATE.

I personally like the idea of one of the emails that is circulating: Why can't 'they' make a scanning room that detinates explosives? Terrorist goes in carrying bomb, explodes, game over. Would cut down on equipment and personnel needed to check everybody, and, of course, terrorists...

Can't remember the full details, but just recently received an email -- at the airport everyone walks into a a "closet" if you have explosive on you it automatically detonates. those who don't have explosives walk, the others just give up their seats.
