Full Moon Setting - 05/05/12 Anyone what to join?

I'm a few days behind most of you, but my first goes in lockdown tomorrow & 12 more on the 29th. After that I have several going in or hatching every day or so until June 14th.

Still No Piping :( This is so fusterating!! NOT Knowing when LOL I am hooked checking the incubator a hundred times and starring several mins to see if any is making any movement. One or however many keeps chirping. Guess Thats a good Sign? So ready to see a BABY

If you hear something let them got at least 23 days

nice one congrats

btw my lemon cuckoo orps where both overdue to pip by 1 and a half days and came out just fine

so wait it out all will be good

good luck

one thing i noticed is that you have them small end down duing hatch

how does that fair as i been told that lockdown should be on its side not pointing down

plus a live broody hen can never acheive that naturally anyway

Sometimes with shipped eggs it's recommended to hatch upright in cartons. The upright position is supposed to help with damaged air cells. Also, if you use a auto turner the chick has been nearly upright the whole time so it's less of a transition. Many experienced breeders have recommended this way of hatching rather than the more "normal" way of laying the eggs on their sides especially with shipped eggs.

I also think it provides "resitance" if a mamma hen was on the they would not roll around and "chicken football" would not happen, in the cartons they are secure. On my first hatch of the year I had 100% in my own eggs (11) and 80% in shipped using this method. Seems to work pretty good. By the way I now have 2 more that have piped of my Trisha eggs

It is out!!!!! Congrats Trisha you are a Gma (again LOL) Ignore the temp, it is always 1-2 degrees off :) The two at the far right of the pic are the ones that have piped.

Nice pictures Congradulations:) So is it better for them to hatch out of a egg carton then laying on their side in the incubator? Thats how I have mine and I now have 4 that has piped they've piped on theri side but YEA they are actually alive well for so far!!!:0) One keeps chirping and chirping the beak is out of the pip and its like it is ??
