What I really want is a pen of each color of Plymouth Rocks, a pen of each color of Orps and a pen of Barnies and I would be happy!!! Well for a while at least!

I would love something similar too

but a pen on Cream Legbars, a pen of Marans, a pen of all Colour Orps, and a pen of Lav Araucanas

at the moment i have most breeds but have had to put all the Girls together and the Males in a Pen Each

Question. I put a second thermometer in my incubator about a day and a half ago. According to the new thermometer, the temp has been 3-4 degrees too cool probably for 2 weeks now. Or, now that the temp is up to 99.5 by the new thermometer, the old meter is reading 104. Have I ruined all my eggs depending on which thermometer is correct?

The reason I put in a second thermometer is I have 2 eggs that should have hatched on the 11th. On the 8th or so I saw an active chick in one of the eggs. The eggs is full now, but I can't tell if the chick is alive or not.

I've 13 EE eggs, 4 duck eggs, 5 Cochin mix eggs (2 were due on 11th) and 4 Silky eggs. All due on various dates this month.

Comments please!

the thermometer might be out

i use a brinsea and its set to 37.5C digital LCD

i put a second thermometer in and it read 40.5C i put in a third and it read 36.9C and then put in a simple 4th one that i know is good and that read 38C

so i reckon your thermometer is out just like mine

i ended up just talking them out

BJ, my solution to that problem last year was to go to PetSmart and buy 3 of those cheap aquarium thermometers. It was with those that I found out my temps were actually at 103 instead of the 100 I thought they were and why I most likely only has 1 chick hatch the first time and 6 out of 36 the second. Now I keep 4 in at all times in different spots.

I opened the 2 eggs that should have hatched on the 11th. The one I saw movement in had stopped developing right after that. The other was fully developed but never pipped.

My next few eggs are due the 22nd & 24th, then all the rest of the eggs by the 27. Perhaps some of them will make it now the temp is where it belongs.

My bad thermometer came from the MFA farmers store.
