I have 2 Cochin mix eggs due to hatch tomorrow evening or Wed morning. No sign of activity yet. 10 EE eggs due the 28th as well as 1 duck egg.

I also use the egg carton method. Find the eggs do better when they are not knocked around by the newly hatched.

Yay I go into lockdown tomorrow!!

I hope all goes well. As of candling last night, I have 6 very full frizzle eggs and my pheasant is sketchy- I haven't seen any movement for a couple days. But I'll keep it in till hatch just in case. I'm thinking of putting a towel in to help hold the eggs more stationary, last hatch I think I lost a couple babies to drowning when they were trying to pip and rolling around. Has anyone else had that happen? Another issue....I can't keep the **** lid on the bator when they are hatching...I wanna hold em!!!! uuuugh...must not open bator, must not open bator....Apparently this causes the membrane to dry and stick? I had to help several of my babies hatch last year and I don't want that to happen again this year. So I'm going to try to keep my hands off em, till they are done

Hey how are the ducks?????

the 2 ducks i have left are doing well so far

the 2 aseel eggs

1 hatched about 10 mins ago a beautiful yellow down chick [just drying off]

the second egg had a aircell about half way so i wasnt hopefull for it from the day i locked it down

i decided to pip a hole in centre as there was nothing from the chick

i noticed nothing comming from chick when i lit a light inside the hole so i increased the hole

i finally revealed a beautifull black down chick that was about 19-20 days old and drowned in shell it never made ti to moving to correct position and there was alot of yolk and egg white floating inside the airsac which looked like shrink wrapping

On the lost little guy. Congrats on the one that made it!

Wow this whole time I was thinking an Aseel was a breed of duck!

hehe Aseels are Chicken [Game Birds]

the aseels originated in Hydrabad India where my dad was Born before the partition of 1947 from which he moved over to pakistan

they are a hard feather tall standing bird 50CM aprox [not in UK or even in my heart i think its wrong... but they are used as fighting cockrels]

i hatched some as my dad asked me to, i think he wanted a reminder of back home

im just hoping he is a cockrel they are just so gorgeous [i even joined the aseel club]
