Fully Formed Chicks Not Hatching?

My welsummers did the same thing, I have more hatching the 11th, put in hatcher today.

Only hatched one on the last hatch, rest were fully formed. Thought it was me, but maybe there were other factors.

I'm having the same issue. I've hatched twice now...last time I don't remember the numbers but I had nearly 100% develop all the way. 2 died not having absorbed the yolk (but fully formed otherwise) and the others all seemed completely ready to get out...they just didn't. This time I've had 3 of 9 hatch. #4 either pipped or the other 3 managed to break a hole in it - either way when several hours later I noticed no movement through the hole (not even breathing) I decided to take it out and see if it was possible to rescue it or not. It was too late. :( Dead, fully developed, yolk absorbed. I still have 5 more eggs in the incubator that I haven't seen even a pip from (although I've definitely seen the eggs move) and I'm so scared that I'm going to give it a few more days only to find 5 more fully-formed dead chicks inside. :(

Considering the fact that your OEGs had a great hatch rate, I don't think it was your fault. I think the wellsummers either had a rough journey to your house, or there could be some genetic/age/nutrition issue with the wellsummers.

I was searching the forums and came across this thread. I have had two hatches in my Brinsea Advance mini. Marans. Both times, only one chick hatched. Shipped eggs. The second time, I steeled my self and did eggtopsies. Fully formed chicks in two of the other eggs. Yolks absorbed. Didn't hatch.

Other people with eggs from the same source got better hatch rates.

I gave the eggs until a week past the due date this time.

What is going on? Are they maybe getting stuck because I am not setting the turning angle high enough?

The first time, I followed the incubator instructions word for word. Second time, I dorked with the humidity to keep it lower, and adjusted the temperature according to a separate hygrometer. Same results as first time.

I don't think its weak chicks - the one that hatch each hatch was extremely vigorous.
