Here's the "Before" pic... early in the day, Robbie was driving and Trina was her passenger:
Toward the end of the day, they were both driving separate jet-skis. Here they are in the water after crashing. They had to leave her in the water until they could get her on a backboard because they weren't sure of her injuries. Sounds like that was the best thing for her after all...
As we were securing the jet-skis, this LifeStar helicopter (I think that's what they call it) circled over head and dropped a diver(?) /paramedic(?) and backboard down to my sister...if you look carefully you can see the guy being lowered:
Here's a closeup of the diver/paramedic:
This is Robbie after they secured her on the backboard and were about to lift her out of the water:
I'm so sorry that this happened to your sister and her friend, but I'm sooo glad that everything will be ok and she will heal. Things could be so much worse. Keep your chin up and know that God is good and for whatever his purpose, they have been spared.
I'm so sorry to hear about what happened. They'll be in my thoughts. The lake levels are so low now that everyone is pushed a lot closer than usual, in addition to sandbars and such.
This is why it is so important to wear a lifejacket and use the safety tether properly on those personal watercraft. I'm sure the situation would have been much worse if they hadn't been doing those things.

You are absolutely correct...they did wear lifejackets and used the tethers on the jetskis. If Robbie was not wearing a lifejacket, she could very well be dead. I'm sure the jacket took some of the force of the accident...instead of 5 broken ribs, she could have had punctured lungs, completely smashed/ruptured spleen, or worse. Not to mention the possibility of drowning, with all those injuries she wouldn't have had the strength to tread water....
Now an UPDATE: Yesterday, they were considering a blood transfusion because her count was low due to bleeding from the spleen and also from the hip fracture (large hematoma). But today, she has improved - her white count is lower (no pneumonia or other infection) and her red count is higher (bleeding is slowing down).
So...they should be moving her out of ICU, where she's been since Saturday, and into a regular room soon. I have no idea when she'll be able to go home.
Is she at Brackenridge? If so is there anything you need for help in the area? I'm going on vacation in a couple of days, but if you need something I might be able to help. Sorry I didn't ask sooner.
