There are kids in the jungle that catch and eat tarantula. If enough people eat spiders regularly enough then the average could be 8 across the globe with most of us eating none.

You seriously think there are enough people catching tarantulas in the jungle for 7.5 billion people to average out to eat 8 spiders in their life? I may not be the best at math but I'm thinking that's a little off

I'm aware of all those regulations. For what it's worth, I think the FDA and the USDA are both crap shoots

I tell ya, when I was a kid they were fine. But more recently I'm inclined to agree with you. They're understaffed and unable to keep up with the volume of work needed, and more thigns seem to slip through all the time. :(
 
No, that was just an example of where they are eaten. They are also be also sold as street food in Cambodia. Not my picture.
