I like them but a lot of my friends absolutely HATE them. Ugh. It's really annoying.Back to topic, Fun Facts:
Armadillos are one of the few animals besides humans that can get leprosy, aka Hanson's disease. They usually give birth to identical quadruplets. They can cross bodies of water either by swimming across, in which case they inflate their shell with water to make themselves bouyant, or they can walk along the bottom of the body of water (like a stream or river). Unlike horses, who when frightened, run away, or rabbits, who freeze, armadillos react when frightened by jumping straight up. That's why you can't avoid running over them by trying to straddle them on the highway, as you might a turtle; if you do, you will hear a loud THUNK on the undercarriage as you pass over it. They are incredible diggers and can do a lot of damage to a garden. I find them fascinating.
