Fun with guineas!

Well, our guineas are now 5 months old. We are having the most fun ever with them. When I come out and holler, "hey birds", they run to me at top speed. They almost eat from my hand. A work in progress. We could sit and watch them for hours. I do need to find another treat for them. They love millet but turn down anything else offered. I have tried everything that the chickens like but they want millet. What else is a good and tasty guinea snack?
They still won't enter their coop/house that is inside their pen. Guess they will eventually. Thanks.

Snacks should be kept to a minimum.

I feed and water inside my coop. Another way to get them to enter the coop is by herding them into it. Do it while it is still daylight out and close them in for the night. They do not like entering dark places.

Have you tried mealworms? Mine are crazy for dried mealworms…

That's the best part, when they recognize the sound of your vehicle and come waddling in high speed like you are the most amazing person on earth.

Have you tried mealworms? Mine are crazy for dried mealworms…

I put button lights inside the coop- the set I got even has a little remote. Mine are good abt getting in on their own, but if something holds me up on getting out there to lock up, they won't go inside until I come. It's easier to have that light than trying to hustle them into a dark room.

If you have a strawberry patch you value, I wouldn't advise this, but my keet has had a rough week so I hand fed him a slice of strawberry this evening. He was so excited he was teetering.
