Crowing
I have 2 Guineas, both female that are about 4 months old. One has always been a little off.
They were the last 2 in the brooder at the farm store. One looked strong and confident. The other was cuddled into her and looking terrified. She has always been more nervous.
I have wondered if her vision is off. She frequently loses track of all the other birds or will get stuck someplace and not be able to figure out how to get around the obstacle.
Today when I let them out she didn't run out for BSF treats. She finally walked out and sat down. She has kept track of where the others go and she goes and sits near them and occasionally closes her eyes. No interest in food or grass but is drinking water.
I have been getting little guinea eggs. The shells were soft and are now rough but solid. I added powdered calcium to the mash I give them in the evening.
Her crop is mostly empty. I'm assuming from the way she is not moving too much and sitting that she might have an injury. But I don't see any limping. Or, she ate something in the yard she shouldn't have. I was spreading more mulch yesterday and all the birds were digging around.
I gave her some meloxicam in a little piece of bread soaked with molasses for calories to make her more comfortable. I managed to stuff some egg into her.
So far no poop pics. I have her in a rabbit hutch inside the coop. Any other ideas of things to try?
*** While I was writing this we had a double predator attack and my confident Guinea got killed which really sucks. I know they need other Guineas. I think the one I lost would have been OK with just the chickens. But I guess I'll see how it goes.
