Thanks for replying so timely. It is cold this wk in NH. 40s all wk and raw. Have had my rooster indoors trying the VetRx thing with some improvement but not a cure; keeps getting bad again; his laryngitis has never gone away, just the noisy breathing. He tries to crow and its a pitiful squeal that sometimes you can barely hear. He is relatively small, a mix between a bantam hen and a large standard fella. As a side, he was not shortchanged in the testosterone department! If I recall, it's 3 oz of non-activated Oxine AH to a gallon of water in a cool mist vaporizer. I did not use a steam vaporizer. And if it is still cold where you are, I wouldn't mist the coop for more than 5 minutes at a time-dampness in the coop is not a good thing. Better if you can bring the affected birds inside and mist them in a warm space. I put several in a dog cage in my livingroom when that happened years ago, turned it toward the cage for 10 minutes at a time, two or three times each day for a few days.
Unfortunately I only have a steam vaporizer but will have to get something for cold mist I guess.
When you guys talk about misting your chickens in the summer heat, what do you use? Are you all talking about those adult people size tents Ive seen or something else? Sorry, Im at a loss on this, but know I want some relief for my babies this summer. We had 93 and humid last wk and they were miserable as they were last summer. Appreciate any advice.
