Funniest Things A City Slicker Has Ever Said To You?

My mom has a Supervisor at work who asks many goofy questions... A Few are as follows:

How do you know which eggs are chickens and which eggs are eggs?

And

You were picking Raspberries? You have a Raspberry Tree?!

What is treated lumber?

Well, there you go. Anyone who feeds their family/kids chicken nuggets obviously doesn't believe in "real" food. Instead, they eat what Michael Pollan calls "edible, food-like substances". So, my question for her is, "What's the point in eating edible food-like substances when you can keep a few chickens and have the real thing?"
Funny thing is, most of these snotty people won't put crap *ON* theiir bodies; they want the *good* clothes, shampoo, etc. But, they put crap *IN* their bodies. Gotta love Natural Selection.
So TRUE!!!

I have a citiot friend who is about as far removed from *real* life/food as you can get. The majority of her food shopping is limited to the center aisles of the "super stores". Her kids have been raised on "edible food-like substances" like packaged macaroni and the orange powder they call cheese, or Go Gurt. The list of what they will eat is much shorter than the list of what they won't. When she finally insists they have an apple, she cuts it up, cores it, and peels it for them first. Fast food is the rule and not the exception.

You get the idea.

Anyway, she recently told me that her youngest (17 yrs old) has made a big change in his diet and now insists on eating only "the good stuff". Momentarily excited by the news, I naively asked, "He's eating fresh, organic vegetables??" She looked at me like I had 3 heads and responded, "Of course not. I mean he won't eat store brands anymore. Only the more costly big brand stuff".

I get the "3 heads" look from people ALL the time for eating organics. Hey, that reminds me of another good one: An elderly close relative of mine was horrified because of all the "dirt and bugs" we must be eating. I found that pretty amusing.

Meah I confess I'm not as hardcore organic as I once was. It's just harder to do here. I do for some things but if it's non organic or nothing heck Id still like my veggies!

Wow ... That's surprising. I thought CA was a hotbed of organics. My son lives in the northern part of the state and they're all about it up there. Plus, I thought there were oodles of farmer's markets out there. Organic farms are popping up all over the place here in N. GA. What makes it "harder to do" there?

Inquiring minds and all that ...

Well it's a half hour drive to get to a sprouts, trader joes, jimbos or any of the other organic places. There is a farmers market here in town but it's not that impressive. :/ there's a bigger one "down the hill" but again that's a 20-30 minute drive.

I debate signing up for one of those veggie delivery things (weekly organic local fruits veggies delivery) but hubs can be picky with his eating too. :/
