Ondra's Seramas :

I once was checking a chicken for mites by flipping it over on its back at the fair. A woman said to her daughter"Oh look, she is rocking it to sleep"

When I was a kid my uncle tried to convince us that McDonalds used a substitute protein in their burgers... evidently worms are just as flavorful, healthy, etc... but are cheaper. I thought he was full of it, but still chewed pretty thoughtfully for the next year or so trying to prove it... I came to the conclusion that McD's didn't, but maybe the school cafe did.

This IS the same uncle who thought the rattlesnake was DEAD... since it was lying in the sun and not moving... and decided to throw a rock at it... yeah THAT genius.

My grandmother was raised on mare's milk. Her own mother had died shortly after she was born. Feeding mare's milk to babies was not unusual at the time and apparently the babies thrived on it. Those who turned green at the thought of drinking mare"s milk should not have been so quick to judge. If they had tried some they would have been pleasantly surprised.

how is drinking cow's milk any different from drinking mare's milk? I mean, really?

Anyway- my kids have had to explain to lots of people that no, we are not eating baby chickens... we don't have a rooster, duh
adults still do not get the idea that with out a daddy there is no baby
I am glad my four and six year old can explain it to them

and I have heard several times
"no, we only eat eggs from the store" but my mom heard "no, we only eat eggs from the store, we don't eat them from chickens"
WOW

I just used this as a joke and asked my mom why we don't bleach our eggs. I said "because different breeds lay different eggs, if we wanted white eggs we could just get our own white layers. I said "isn't that so obvious?" She said "NO"

The Mongols used to ferment mare's milk...it's still done in that part of the world, today...

Wine, beer or mare's milk?
